Used Vw Parts
Can i use the turbo and other parts on a VW 1.8t engine and put them on a 2.0L engine?
Benn thinking about it and it seem logical. I know there are some parts that would not fit, and I would need some new injectors and probably a new fuel pump, and ecu flash. But if I could pull one off at the junk yard it would be so cheap!
Most parts wont fit, that is if you are talking about a 2.0L 8 valve engine. The manifold for the turbo has a different bolt pattern as does the intake manifold. If you want to just pull the entire head off of the 1.8T and stick it on your engine, the head wont fit on your engine either. The easiest fit from a junked car would be to find a diesel, preferably the 1.9L TDI, the exhaust manifold and turbo are a single unit, and the manifold would bolt onto your cars existing engine. It’s a turbo that will probably max out it’s boost around 4000 rpm, which will make for a lamer top end, but some good usable power below 5000rpm. It’s less than perfect, but what do you expect for something out of the junk yard. Some 1.8T parts such as injectors the fuel pump could work too.
Ultimately though it will probably be much less of a headache just to buy a kit from a trusted vendor, and do it that way, so you know everything is in good condition and will work properly for a while.
